Welcome from Maestro Michael Jinbo

It’s hard to believe, but 2009-2010 will be my 20th season with the Nittany Valley Symphony. Time has passed so quickly! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the past two decades of making music in Happy Valley and cherish the many friendships I’ve made within the orchestra family. During my tenure, the orchestra and I performed well over 400 works in over 100 performances, and I’ve observed how much the orchestra and our audience have developed over the years. Such reflections as these—of time, commemoration and change—were the inspiration for the theme of next season:  Musical Stages.

In selecting the works for the season, I interpreted the concept of “musical stages” both literally and figuratively. We will perform music composed for the stages of theatre, opera and ballet, as well as works that represent significant musical stages or milestones in the lives of composers.

As the curtain rises on our next season, I am grateful for many wonderful musical memories and eager for the musical adventures yet to come.
