The Nittany Valley Symphony GuildCharterThe Nittany Valley Symphony Guild is formed to work in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the NVS in whatever capacities are necessary, including hospitality, sales, public relations, education, fund-raising and office support.Its goals are to assist the board with development, to expand the Symphony's audience and to promote a broad public appreciation of music. MembershipMembership is open to everyone. The yearly fee is $30.00. For information on Membership and/or activities of the Guild, please call the NVS office at +1 814 231 8224.Luncheon with the MaestroPreceding each concert, the NVS Guild hosts a luncheon at the Centre Hills Country Club with Maestro Jinbo. Members of the orchestra provide music for your enjoyment, and Maestro Jinbo speaks briefly about the upcoming concert.Reservations are necessary; Call the NVS office +1 814 231 8224 by the previous Tuesday. This year's Luncheons: Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 12:00 p.m. Social hour at 11:30 a.m. Guild membership is not necessary for Luncheon attendance. Cost is $20.00 payable at the door. Ann Keller Young Soloist CompetitionEach year the Guild sponsors a competition open to students grade 9-12 from Centre and adjoining counties. Check the Rules and Prizes page for details and a link to the application form.Jeannette "Ann" Keller, founder of the Nittany Valley Symphony, Concertmistress of both NVS and Altoona Symphony for many years, passed away Saturday July 3, 1999. She was 82 years old. Ann
founded the Nittany String quartet in 1967 and worked with many musical
groups in the area since then. Her active spirit evoked the yearly NVS
award in her name, The "Ann Keller Young Soloist Competition".
Poinsettia Sale
Each year the Guild sponsors a Poinsettia sale to raise funds for the Symphony.
This is a major event for the group and provides the opportunity to meet
new friends and promote the NVS at the same time.
Plants
are $12. each for a 7" pot and $5 each for a 4.5" pot. They are available
in red, white or pink. Funds raised are donated to the symphony to sponsor
a chair and provide additional general operating funds. To order call the
