Stephen Feldman


Biography


Upon graduating from State College Area High School in 1984, cellist Stephen Feldman has gone on to receive degrees in Music and English Literature from Swarthmore College, a Master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music, and his DMA in Cello Performance at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Over the course of his studies Mr. Feldman has become adept as a recitalist and solo performer as well as in the realm of chamber music. Previously a member of the Fetter and Rivanna Quartets, Stephen has participated in music festivals in Interlochen, Meadowmount, Aspen, and Taos. Recent performances have taken him from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Sacramento, California.

Mr. Feldman began his studies on the cello with his father, Leonard Feldman, and more recently has studied with Steven Doane and Timothy Eddy. In addition he has worked extensively with chamber music coach Julius Levine, Baroque specialists Arthur Haas and Paul O’dette, and members of the American, Orion, and Guarneri Quartets. A committed teacher, Mr. Feldman has been on the teaching faculties at Penn State and DePauw Universities, and the University of Virginia. He currently teaches through the University of Central Arkansas and privately in Little Rock, where he has just completed his first year as Assistant Principal Cellist of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and as cellist with the Quapaw Quartet.

Mr. Feldman will perform with the Nittany Valley Symphony in their TIME AND AGAIN concert on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at 8:00 p.m..
