The Nittany Valley Symphony Youth Flute Choir, directed by flutist Agatha Wang, allows students to explore music written for groups of flutists in a friendly, challenging and educational atmosphere. Flute students rarely have opportunities to explore the variety of sounds their instrument can make, or the possibilities of its various sizes -- from piccolo to bass flute. But in fact, there is a large body of literature written for flute ensembles, from small chamber pieces to large choir pieces. New music is always being written for flute choir, so that there is always new interesting and challenging compositions to explore. The Choirs’ annual performances include a performance of the national anthem at a State College Spikes game, a “Musicians in the Making” performance for one of the Symphony’s concerts and the Bellefonte Victorian Christmas. New members are always welcome. Interested flutists may contact Agatha Wang.
